Sales Director - Ashfield, Clondalkin, Dublin 22

 

Principle Objective

Reporting to the Managing Director of Builders Merchant Division, this role is responsible for the development and management of the National Key Accounts and the coordination of the regional and branch external Sales teams to develop relationships and business planning resulting in the delivery of product sales in line with the overall company strategy and targets. Heavily focusing on the managerial aspect of the role, it provides the sales process, direction, planning, controlling, and monitoring of a team of sales personnel in relation to the larger building materials customers. 

Knowledge & Experience

  • At least six years’ experience within the sales organisation of a construction related company or B to B
  • Sales management/KAM experience and the use of a CRM system
  • Strong knowledge of the construction process and industry essential
  • IT literate, knowledge of BIM
  • Higher Academic Education (Business, engineering or construction studies) preferably, or other related discipline

Key Responsibilities        

  • To identify, engage with and grow through negotiation, existing key accounts and potential key account opportunities in line with company sales objectives and adhering to strict company-based Credit management

  • To establish a sales process to best facilitate our customers of varying sizes across all sectors of the construction industry

  • To provide direction to the external branch Sales resources providing support, training, coaching and development to meet the annual sales and margin budgets across the region with responsibility for all products

  • To direct the Key Account Managers to identify appropriate project opportunities and to monitor progress and activity to support the project pipeline ensuring Chadwicks develops competitive advantage and leads the market.    

  • To direct and support the Sales teams to ensure contractor relationships are strengthened, including improving the conversion of project resolution through interaction with all elements of Chadwicks Group

  • To work with key accounts in large project planning and establishing virtual effective teams on a project by project basis for the longevity of those projects, offering viable solutions across the portfolio

  • Responsible for the Development and implementation of Account and action plans

  • Conduct regular assessments of the market needs and competition’s capability relating to project specification and support, providing alternative tactics, solutions and support

  • Responsible for the maintenance, on-going development and supplier relationships of project tracking tools such as CRM and any Lead Providers

  • Responsible for a personal contribution towards the introduction of new products providing idea generation, market research and development, testing and evaluation activities

  • Contribute towards the preparation of the annual budgets and the long-range planning process (5 year plan) to ensure the Project Specification, KAM and Sales function and objectives are represented

  • Responsible for the safety aspects within the area of own responsibility particularly around site safety

  • To ensure the management of the team activity for all project, company, contact, diary and activities within CRM daily to ensure regular and effective communication across all relevant functions. Responsible for reporting performances based on CRM data output / standard reports

  • Responsible for the preparation of short/mid/long term project and sales forecasts in conjunction with the regional Director, including the management of team expense budgets
