Procurement and Contracts Manager

Principle Objective

Reporting to the Finance Director, the Procurement and Contracts Manager is responsible for negotiating non-trade purchasing activities within the organisation. The primary objective is to achieve meaningful and sustainable cost reductions across goods and services not for resale, by developing and executing procurement strategies tailored to operational needs. This includes optimising supplier relationships, leveraging negotiation and contract management expertise, and driving continuous improvement in procurement processes. The role ensures the supply of high-quality, cost-effective goods and services, supports compliance with company policies, and contributes to overall financial performance and strategic objectives. This role will cover Chadwicks Group & MacNaughton Blair in NI. 

 

Experience & Qualifications

  • BSc/BA in business administration, supply chain management, procurement, or a relevant field.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in procurement, buying, or supply chain management, preferably in a similar industry.
  • Professional qualifications in procurement and contracts management highly desirable.
  • Experience in strategic sourcing of goods and services for operational use, not for resale
  • A track record of managing contracts throughout their entire lifecycle, ensure compliance and performance.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement strategies, practices, and tools, as well as a solid understanding of market dynamics.
  • Experience in supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, and supplier performance evaluation.
  • Familiarity with procurement regulations, legal requirements, and ethical standards.
  • To have a digital-first mindset. Proficiency in procurement technologies and systems, such as ERP software and e-procurement platforms.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to develop creative solutions to procurement challenges.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate with both internal and external stakeholder

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organisational goals and objectives.
  • Manage the end-to-end procurement process, including sourcing, negotiation, and contract implementation.
  • Lead supplier evaluation and selection to ensure the organisation partners with reliable cost-effective and high-quality suppliers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including marketing, IT, HR, finance and operations teams.
  • Develop strong networks across Grafton Group to drive collaboration and realise broader cost synergies through partnering.
  • Monitor market trends and supplier landscape to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and best practices to mitigate risk.
  • Support planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities for the procurement function.
  • Collaborate with other business leaders to develop and implement effective processes and procedures that drive efficiency.
  • Promote sustainability and responsible sourcing in line with the company’s strategic priorities.
  • Drive a positive culture, supporting diversity, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure adherence to all legal and compliance standards, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Identify and support technology-driven projects that enhance procurement efficiency and customer service.
  • Act as a role model for professionalism and leadership, representing the company’s values internally and externally.
  • Undertake any other ad hoc duties as reasonably requested by the Finance Director.

Key Performance Measures

  • Cost savings achieved through effective sourcing and negotiation.
  • Supplier performance metrics, including delivery reliability, quality, and responsiveness.
  • Regular evaluation and improvement plans for key suppliers. * Compliance with procurement policies, regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Procurement process efficiency, measured by cycle time, lead time reduction, e-procurement adoption rate and cost-effectiveness.
  • Stakeholder satisfaction, including feedback from internal customers and cross-functional teams.
  • Achievement of procurement-related KPIs, such as targeted levels of cost reduction, percentage of suppliers meeting sustainability criteria, supplier delivery performance, and spend under management.

Contract Type

  • Permanent – Hybrid (3 days office 2 days home)
  • Full time 39-hour contract
  • Working week Monday to Friday
