The Opportunity / Who We Seek

We are hiring for a Group Financial Accountant on our Financial Reporting team. This permanent position will be responsible for the production of accurate financial and management accounts for Chadwicks Group. This role reports to the Group Financial Controller and collaborates closely with the Group’s business units and divisional finance teams. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, self-motivated highly organized and has a strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards, particularly IFRS 16 and acquisition accounting.

 

Responsibilities:

The Group Financial Accountant is a varied and wide-ranging role that includes, but is not limited to, the following:

 

  • Perform month end management accounts preparation to strict reporting deadlines including preparation and review of journals, reconciliations, ownership of the asset registers and IFRS 16 reporting requirements.

  • Preparation of the monthly consolidated balance sheet, cashflow and associated reporting packs to senior management.

  • Providing accounting guidance in collaboration with the Group Financial Controller on queries as and when they arise.

  • Ownership of the single entity statutory audit process, including the preparation and review of financial statements.

  • Key point of contact with external auditors.

  • Collaboration with business units, providing insightful variance analysis of key metrics and financial information specific to each division.

  • Act as primary point of contact for subsidiary and regional finance teams.

  • Supporting the preparation of tax compliance, with emphasis on Corporation Tax.

  • Provide technical accounting expertise on acquisitions and assisting with related financial reporting requirements

  • Support the quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting process

  • Review and enhance processes to streamline financial reporting and improve controls.

  • Provide input into Finance related projects, as required.

  • Work closely with system providers to further enhance quality of reporting

  • Partner with MacNaughton Blair on systems and process integrations

Requirements

  • The successful candidate will have a university degree in accounting or finance
  • A professional accounting qualification (ACCA/ACA/CPA or equivalent)
  • A minimum of 3+ years post qualification experience in accounting in industry or audit firms with a leading accountancy practice
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written (fluent written and oral English)
  • Ability to display analytical and pragmatic thinking
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards, particularly IFRS 16
  • The successful candidate will have excellent time management, proven ability to adhere to strict deadlines, organizational and prioritization skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook etc) and ERP systems, with experience optimizing these tools.
